What's in a Name...?

Hillary and I name people.  It's what we do.  Maybe it's because we don't know your name and can't keep calling you "annoying ginger in my english class who never shuts up".  Or maybe we do know your name, but just like our name for you better.  Take Johnny Spaghetti for example.  I fell in love with Johnny in our first chemistry lab.  He came up to me after lab and asked me to help him with his.  I should have noticed him then, but for some reason I was in too much of a hurry to get out of there that I let my opportunity pass.  I did, however, notice how scrumptious he smelled.  Next week in lab, when I actually took a good look at him, I think my jaw dropped to the floor.  Johnny is a real piece of eye candy.  I already mentioned that he smelled good enough to eat, and he is tall with long, dark, shaggy hair, which he recently cut short (not a fan).  He always wears a white baseball cap, that's how I identify him.  Also, he has beautiful, dark skin...I'm guessing he's Italian, hence the last name Spaghetti.  Johnny isn't his real first name, I have no idea what his name is, but we've been calling him Johnny for so long I couldn't imagine his name being anything else.  I should probably find out soon though, because I'm pretty sure we're getting married.  Anyways, we picked Johnny because it's pretty common.  There's a better chance that his name is Johnny than Maddox, or some other stupid name that celebrities come up with.  Just because you're rich and famous doesn't mean you have to subject your child to a life full of ridicule.  After Johnny Spaghetti, we've really taken to naming boys after food....Ben Cheeseburger, Tyler Pizza...  Girls are a different story...we just call all of them Sara, unless they've earned a special name like "Scary Girl" or "Piddle Pants".

Our favorite boy is Stuart.  One day, Hillary came home and told me of this adorable nerd "straight out of an SNL skit".  She named him Stuart after the MadTV skits.  After the first time I saw Stuart...I see him everywhere.  And she was right, he is adorable.  His khaki pants are always a little bit too short, and he always wears white New Balance, and a button down shirt.  Recently though, he has been dressed up in dapper suits and dress shoes.  But one thing Stuart always has, is a smile.  He always grins to himself, and today, he chuckled a little as we passed by, all bundled up in his winter jacket and hat.  That's when Hillary and I thought, maybe he's on to us.  Why else would he be laughing and smiling on his way to class every day.  Is he just that eager to learn?  Maybe he knows that we look forward to seeing him every morning, and puts an extra pep in his step just for us.  Well Stuart, we appreciate it.

One last note.  It's slippery outside, people.  And while riding your bike to school this morning might have seemed like a good idea in your head (think about it...it's ICE).  After watching one poor boy take a digger on his bike this morning....I hope everyone else will learn....wheels and ice don't mix.
